Due to the possibility of the device failing even with a little fault, these components must be manufactured with exceedingly tight tolerances.

Manufacturing Engineers play a vital role at Smith+Nephew, working closely with teams across the business to ensure that products are manufactured efficiently and to a high standard of quality.

They are responsible for designing, developing, and implementing manufacturing processes, as well as troubleshooting and improving existing processes.

Manufacturing Engineers also work closely with suppliers to ensure that the company has the necessary materials and components to meet production demands.

Roles are site-based at one of our global manufacturing facilities:

  • Our Orthopaedics products are primarily manufactured at facilities in Memphis (US), Penang (Malaysia), Aarau (Switzerland), Warwick (UK).
  • Our Sports Medicine products are primarily manufactured at our Alajuela (Costa Rica) and Mansfield (USA) facilities.
  • Our Advanced Wound Management products are produced in Hull (UK), Fort Worth (USA), Columbia, MD (USA) and Suzhou (China).

Our Product Development Engineers are innovators, who are responsible for the design and development of our medical devices. They apply their technical expertise in concept development, prototyping, product design, and verification/validation testing as well as support through production.

They work collaboratively with surgeons to understand user needs as well as with internal teams from concept through design transfer/production.

Product development roles are site-based at one our facilities around the world.

Our finance team plays a crucial role in maintaining financial stability and supporting the long-term success of our organization by effectively managing our financial resources and providing valuable financial insights.

Their primary functions include financial planning & analysis, accounting & reporting, tax compliance, finance strategy, and more. 

An engaged and productive workforce is critical to our growth and success and our Human Resources department plays a pivotal role in these people-related aspects of our organization.

They are responsible for aligning HR initiatives with the strategic goals of our business and fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

In addition to hiring, developing, and nurturing talent, our HR Team creates, implements, and oversees programs and initiatives in performance management, compensation & benefits, HR compliance, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity, and employee relations. 

Our IT team provides partnership, strategic advice, and support to our employees at all levels of the business, enabling them to focus on delivering the best products and service to our customers.

They are responsible for our technology infrastructure, ensuring that we have the right technology to support business objectives, and safeguarding data and systems from potential risks and vulnerabilities.

Our Business Development team is responsible for identifying and managing M&A opportunities across the global footprint of the company, seeking to achieve growth and profitability within our portfolio.

Our Corporate Affairs team has responsibility for Investor Relations, Public Policy & Government Affairs. This team also leads our corporate brand and communications strategy and initiatives.

Our Global Compliance Programme helps our business to comply with applicable laws, regulations and industry code requirements in the markets in which we operate.

As a Compliance professional, you will work closely with business partners, as well as third party distributors and agents, to ensure that our programme evolves in parallel with business changes and emerging risks in the sector.

As a Legal professional, you will be responsible for providing legal guidance and support to the organisation, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.
