To Smith+Nephew, supporting a charity partner involves finding ways we can donate time and space to help an organization achieve its mission.
2024 marks 5 years of partnership with Migrant Leaders which matches migrant students with mentors to help them navigate exams, job interviews and career development. Over this time, 25 of our employees have become mentors and participated in driving the charity’s impact by using their company volunteer hours to provide guidance and career advice to an assigned mentee.
This month, we were pleased to welcome over 120 students and teachers from schools connected to Migrant Leaders to Croxley for our annual STEM Careers Conference, in which students aged 16 to 20 see their science textbooks transformed into real world opportunities. Our guests received a tour of our medical education facility, the Smith+Nephew London Academy, and the chance to try out some of our instruments. A highlight of the day was a ‘Speed STEM’ session, where students interviewed employees from different departments to fully understand the wide variety of careers available in the medical device industry.
We’ll continue shouting about the amazing work that Migrant Leaders does and supporting Smith+Nephew team members in their desire to make difference.
